5 Reasons Why Jail Breaking Your iPhone isn’t Such a Good Idea

So, your friend has jailbroken his iPhone and you want to get it done too. After all, everything he does, you want to do too. But there is something that you need to understand, before you jailbreak your iPhone; things aren’t as hunky dory as they seem to be. Granted, there are a number of benefits of using the iPhone, but there are also certain negatives of this aspect that you need to be aware of.

While jailbreaking an iPhone you need to make an informed decision and knowing about some of the reasons why it isn’t such a great idea, will allow you to do the same:

The Great Crash

All smartphone owners have this one common nightmare – “The Crash”.  Yes, they pray that they should never ever have to face their smartphone giving up on them. But, this is a problem that your iPhone will be affected by, if its jailbroken. Yes, getting all those third party applications is all well and good, but what about the stability of your iPhone? There is no doubt that its stability will be threatened by apps that have not been approved by Apple. So, take care.

Low Battery Life

There will be plenty of times when you will go “What? No Battery! But I just recharged it!” Well this is because your iPhone doesn’t like you using software that has not been approved by Apple. Well, to be very frank, I really wouldn’t know whether Apple will actually like it or not, but your battery life will not be the same if you go overboard with the installation of jailbroken iPhone apps. They will squeeze the battery life out of it. So, again be careful.

Say goodbye to Apple Warranty

This is something that is a given. If you jailbreak your iPhone, it is no longer eligible for warranty. Yes, you and your iPhone are on your own; if there is any problem in the device, you get it sorted out from somebody who has expertise in the same.

But don’t worry; it’s not the end of the world. You can always restore the factory settings of your iPhone and once you do that, there will be no issue with respect to warranty.

Security can be a Concern

After all, you are jail breaking aren’t you? So, you need to suffer the consequences.  One of the biggest risks of using jailbroken apps is the fact that your iPhone is exposed to malware. You are essentially using those apps that aren’t vetted for their quality. This is why you must be very careful with respect to the sources you download your iPhone apps from.

Be prepared to Shell out More

Some people have this erroneous belief that jailbroken apps are cheaper than those found on the iTunes store. But, this isn’t correct as some of the better jailbroken apps are quite expensive, as compared to the popular apps on the iTunes store. So, if you want the best jailbroken iPhone apps, you will need to increase your iPhone app expenses.

Don’t think that these are the only reasons why jailbreaking your iPhone isn’t that great an idea. So, if you are thinking about it, go through all the pros and cons with a fine tooth comb and only then take a decision. You don’t want to be caught in a situation wherein you don’t know what to do next.
